Fallibility is so much fun, y'all!!
Characters with fundamental flaws in their thinking, who despite trying their best make the world worse are fun!!
It's an underappeciated joy to go "this is Favourite Character, and oh, they are The Worst", and know that it's true and you love them because they're wrong and imperfect and yet they bring you so much happiness, so many laughs and gasps and that Good Catharsis when things invariably do go wrong.
I take such fierce joy out of loving someone who's broken and hurting and knowing they won't be better. That when there is a wrong decision to make, they will make it.

This is how I think everyone in the Red White And Blue Jesus Metaphor Brigade (Cap, Supes and Optimus) should be written -- forces of unending, unchanging good that compel the world to be better.
But that's just one kind of story you can tell. That's one kind of conflict you can explore. And sometimes, I wanna stand still for a bit and let the conflict wash over me and watch what it really does to the characters experiencing it, and
that's when Cathartic Disasters come in. Like I said in my Impactor post, there's joy to watching a character who's one misapplied tension away from shattering struggling and failing and hurting.
