Like, don't get me wrong, I really love me some flat characters who create change in others. This is how I think everyone in the Red White And Blue Jesus Metaphor Brigade (Cap, Supes and Optimus) should be written -- forces of unending, unchanging good that compel the world to be better.
But that's just one kind of story you can tell. That's one kind of conflict you can explore. And sometimes, I wanna stand still for a bit and let the conflict wash over me and watch what it really does to the characters experiencing it, and
that's when Cathartic Disasters come in. Like I said in my Impactor post, there's joy to watching a character who's one misapplied tension away from shattering struggling and failing and hurting.
