You ever headcanon something out or spite and then afterwards realize a) that it's more probable than just something born out of an oppositional reading and b) it is no longer fun and games as a result :(

I mean I am primarily driven by Salt to headcanon TFP Bulkhead as just as much of a genius savant as TFA Bulk b/c truly the depth of my dislike for him getting written as a less interesting version of the other one cannot be overstated, and my headcanon about him being a class climber is legit just there to justify him having such strong conviction as an Autobot in he absence of a sad backstory

But holy shit does it make his comment to Miko about getting into college read way different. It goes from being kind of a throwaway surrogate guardian comment to something with teeth

Nah it was 100% spite initially. Like, I always figured at least a part of Bulk being so low on self-esteem was "tradesman's modesty" but it didn't bloom into full elaborate until I watched TFA and got bitter about people ignoring him being canonically the smartest mech on Earth.
