yvannairieMastermind Creations announced a Bulkhead figure that is so gorgeous it pisses me off, and I feel particularly targeted by it because I have a long-time love for anti-tank rifles and I've talked elsewhere about my headcanons about Bulkhead's aim and about how he coulda made a good artillery mech and him having a different kind of frame, so it honestly feels like someone out there is reading my fanfic.
(That, and also two different friends linked it to me nigh simultaneously and they're both wise to my fetishes, so this feels a whole lot like targeted marketing.)
The problem is, along with being Sexy(tm), that anti-tank rifle is so unmistakable in design that it raises some questions for me about the difference between anti-personnel and anti-materiel weaponry, and about how the lack of distinction between armoured and non-armoired units affects how the forces are split into branches and task forces, which then led me to wonder about the Functionist implications of this and screaming into my hands about whether the military is the thing that finally makes me start yelling "MEGATRON WAS RIGHT" off the top of my lungs, because the most easy and logical split would be one based on... like, the specifications of different combat frames in a way that on the face of it is extremely dehumanising--
In short, I started questioning whether this means that Bulkhead would have been a sniper, and what that would mean.
The answer, on a characerisation level, is probably "no", but I'm still swimming so deep in the theory of war implications this has that I just haven't argued my way into it yet :'D
