Date: 11/4/19 02:52 (UTC)I sometimes feel like it might do the world good if they'd also read "Seitsemän veljestä" and "Tuntematon sotilas". Maybe we'd be in little less of a crush to elevate the English canon if texts from minority languages where platformed and analysed more.

Date: 14/4/19 23:04 (UTC)As somebody who has read a fair amount of Spanish/Latin American literature in both Spanish and translated English, I agree that it would be great for just everybody in general to platform texts from other languages. With Spanish in particular, there's the entire genre of magical realism which is native to it, not to mention all the important political thought that began with latinx writers.
