yvannairieNow that I've slept on it, Your Alien Boyfriend's analysis that in the IDW comics reformatting is queer in the context of a Functionist society feels pretty damn compelling, b/c it also plays into the arbitrary nature of persecution and how what was accepted as a normal part of nature can become ostracised.
Like, there's a line from Roadbuster in SotW about how change is the nature of their species, and the limitation that "you can only change between the two forms you were created with" feels arbitrary on its face.
