Oh, that's interesting

yvannairieI figured something about my inability to engage media that doesn't have a wide array of shipping possibilities -- it honestly mostly comes down to stories with a very small cast not really giving me anything.
My primary form of engagement with any thing is to look how the various elements of it play off each other. That's why I'm so into worldbuilding -- a lot of it is just me making connections and going "oh, the implications of that are fascinating, let's do a little delving". I sometimes do that with characters, which is where my (if I say so myself) excellent character analysis skill come from.
But when you do that with relationships? IDK, people just kept interpreting that as shipping so eventually I just embraced it. Fine, I'm a multishipper. I have my preferred OTP for each character but the rest of those dynamics are good and I might wanna write about them at some point too.
It's honestly just math that shows with a smaller cast have less analysis to do and for that reason aren't that interesting to me. I'll do my once-over of each character and unless they turn out to be someone who fascinates me or the world feels like it's ripe for me to come in and prod more stories out of it... that's usually it.
... pretty cool, knowing I have an explanation for why my aro arse is so profoundly shippy in nature other than "I don't have to explain my tastes to anyone" :D
