Other impulsive neuroweirds/OCD overpreparers: *block Amazon, Etsy and eBay on their computers, limit how much money they carry to avoid impulse purchases, lock away their credit cards to avoid overdraft*

Me: *agonises over purchasing common house-hold items like pot holders, towel hooks and a stepladder, longingly gazing at them at shops both online and off, until finally ripping off the bandaid the second one is on sale at a shop despite transporting it being a problem*

(Which is to say that after three years of desperately needing one, I finally own a stepladder -- the alltogether third seat in my entire apartment.)

(Now if only I could bring myself to buy those tablecloth pins, hand weights and bottle opener within this decade, we'd be solid.)

We've only had one chair that can be placed at a table for um, the past... 6 to 8 years maybe? (Before that we had some unsatisfying chairs that couldn't be painted and had upholstered seat problems which we gave away and/or ripped apart and threw away the pieces sorted into the correct types of trash.) So when I finally bought a stepstool last year it was the third seat that you could sit on in the kitchen (also last year I bought a couple of those knockoff Aalto stools though, to avoid anyone having to sit on the floor). Two years ago my MIL gave us three of those wooden folding chairs that you can put on a balcony or whatever, and we tried to use them in an emergency when we had people over to eat, except that one time my wife sat down on one and it just like... disintegrated...?... literally fell apart in a few pieces, dumping her on the floor in the middle of it. (We still have the other ones, but we kinda stopped considering them as things to do more than gingerly perch on.)

Last weekend we actually bought 3 more wooden chairs that were on clearance because my mother-in-law kinda insisted so now, aged 36 and 43, we finally have 4 (mismatched) chairs.

I pulled out of the garbage bin and washed 😂

My aunt has a 70s (?) lounge chair with a body of wood and padding made of brown leather that they drove by sitting on the side of the road* and it was actually on fire at the time. She said "Hugh, pull over!" and my uncle was like, "Wha? But... what?" and she leapt out of the truck and ran over and started beating it to put out the flames.

(None of it is burnt up, just bits of the leather missing from the upholstery and some of the wood is now black instead of pine-colored 😂)

*because that's where you put trash to be picked up by the garbage truck

LMAO our buying habits are uncannily similar.😅

We impulse-bought one of those last autumn - one of the bigger ones though, I think it cost even more than 40€.
