yvannairie: drawing of someone experiencing visible silence (why)
[personal profile] yvannairie
That feeling when you see comments from a WASP film director being framed in a way that suggests they're somehow untoward or "telling", and not only do you agree with everything being said, but wonder if the framing is a result of someone's kneejerk reaction to A Man(tm) talking about female adolescents to any degree or if you're simply missing the context and the director is actually one of those predators hiding in plain sight and the writer of the thing you're reading thinks it's common knowledge.

And you're kinda sitting there, wondering if you should bother a) asking about it b) expressing that whether they're a creep or not, you're tired of the focus on the way "creeps" talk and even the most innocuous statement being treated as if it contains sinister subtext because inevitably you see the same innocuous statements being used as proof that someone marginalised is Actually Bad, or of doing one or both of those things and getting into the whole thing would be flushing what little social capital you have down the toilet because you "defended" a rich white guy.
