I was gonna post this on Tumblr and decided it was too spicy but since I am once again moaning the lack of yaoi in my fandoms, even of characters whose ships I don't really even care about, I really do think that all the complaining about people's lack of attention to female characters and only focusing on ships that the dislikers of such things can characterise as "any two guys" ships means that there's just plain less art of any kind now.
Like I thought brainless seme/uke bishonen porn was an unavoidable scourge on fandom but my favourite character's tags are full of porn of them with the Hot Sexy Girl from their game/show, rather than them with any of the "low-hanging yaoi ships" everyone complains about. Pixiv had a total of twenty works crosstagged with both "BL" and "Xenoblade 3", for example.
I guess I'm glad the het fans are eating well. And, granted, I do also like those ships, I just think the porn is low quality and OOC for the most part. But there's not even low-quality OOC boy/boy porn available for me to be disappointed by.

So I think a lot of people just gave up on posting yaoi online for fear of social media witch hunts.

New artists don't branch out from drawing unobjectionable het of canon couples or maybe some girls holding hands, and old established artists don't bother entering into new fandoms to draw the good porn because new fandoms are much likelier to have lots of new fans with absolutely zero manners.
I can go back enough and still find porn of Naruto, Dragon Ball, Bleach, One Piece, and many many fandoms I started out in. I can find Fuck All for Cookie Run, Xenoblade 3, most Project Moon games, or any of the new anime I just got done watching.
I don't know how to describe it other than that people have developed an aversion to being horny for male characters in general because if you are horny for a guy, people will immediately jump to accusing you of being a fetishiser even if you are, like. Also a guy. Then they'll do their best to transvestigate you because no, you must be lying, as we all know there are no men in fandom because men can get what they want from normie porn.

And people don't even realize how destructive this is both to fandom generally and to people's general well-being.

Date: 27/4/25 15:03 (UTC)YEAH GOD like I keep hearing about how we're currently living through the golden age of femslash and I keep asking WHERE??? WHERE IS ALL THE PORN?? IF WE'RE ATTRACTED TO WOMEN HERE WHY ARE WE NOT FUCKING THEM?? and receiving no answer except complaining about having to see works of art that they think appeal to "men" more than they appeal to themselves. It really is a radscum anti-fun, "how dare you be enjoying yourself when things are so bad" message. There is no joy to be found here.
