I decided on the last second that this post was too spicy for Tumblr but that site really fucking forgot that for like a solid four years starting in 2016, the favourite hobby of powertripping shitheels on this site was pedojacketing women (trans and cis alike!) and delusional porn-rotted fujo-- I mean, transmascs, huh?

Yes, I know I've made this post before, essentially in the same words, but over and over I keep seeing posts that essentially assert that "pedojacketing and sexual harassment through invasions of privacy" are things that only happen to trans women as an extension of transmisogyny and no. Absolutely not. Where the fuck have you been to even think that.

Social media in general really wants to put oppression into neat little boxes. Only trans women experience X, only Black people experience Y, only disabled people with this specific combination of circumstances experience Z. And if you don't fit their idea of who experiences what, then you're lying and appropriating and your pain doesn't matter.

But that's not how oppression works - for starters, bigots don't actually care what you are exactly! And so a bunch of people are out there gatekeeping pain instead of trying to fix things, and a bunch of other people are hurt and frustrated that their pain is being dismissed. And no actual work gets done.

TBH this wasn't even triggered by the fact that I keep seeing this attitude from people who talk about transmisogyny regardless of gender, it was exclusively triggered by how yesterday I saw a post from a trans woman that argued that the transphobia in omegaverse comes from "people not wanting to imagine a real woman with a dick" ie. more transmisogyny, and it was so fucking laughably ignorant to the origin and methods of omegaverse that it was like getting doused in cold water.

I'm fucking sorry??? Do you fucking hear yourself? Has the rest of the world just not existed for you, did you literally hatch out of a transfem egg two weeks ago and think the world literally revolves around you??

Like at this point I am sick and tired of being complained at about the lack of solidarity with transfems when literally every subject turns into how nobody else has ever had real problems and all the violence in the world is first proof-tested on trans women. We know where this talk goes, it goes into transfem safe houses where they treat other more vulnerable trans women as domestic servants and sex dispensaries.

I don't even do omegaverse, I certainly won't pretend to understand the history or the specific bigotries the fanbase comes up with, but the idea that their cissexism is somehow different from the cissexism in the rest of the world is laughable. I've seen variations on this idea, that well THIS fandom or group has a unique manifestation of bigotry that's totally unrelated to the rest of the world, and it's always just ridiculous.

"People don't want to imagine women with dicks" is not the only anti-trans problem in the world! Transmasc folks get harassed, they get specifically transmisandrist manifestations of bigotry, which has nothing to do with being mistaken for being women with penises!

I'm remembering that one Twitter thread in which someone talked about how in mixed trans spaces, sometimes the trans women would hang out doing nothing while the trans men did all the chores, and they'd call it feminist because it was the *men* laboring. And it reminds me of several (not a lot, certainly not all) transfems I met, who picked up a lot of toxic masculinity pre-transition (eg, threatening violence and sexual assault at people as a way to make themselves feel better) but call it transmisogyny when anyone calls them out on it. And like, yes, false accusations against trans women are a thing, there's a long history of people accusing trans women of being men as bigotry, but also, STOP THREATENING TO HIT PEOPLE.

Pedojacketing and its overhead term predatorjacketing describe the process of trying to portray someone as a child molester or an abuser of some sort. This is often done through misrepresenting their interests or actions, spreading rumours or actively manufacturing evidence. A lot of times it amounts to nothing more than gesturing at literally anything the subject says and going "that's what a nonce would say", but in fandom a lot of times it takes the form of "can you believe they ship X/Y when Y is literally a minor" and other classic antishipper talking points.

It's different from false accusations in that often there isn't even an actual victim anyone can point to, and the people spreading the rumours are unrelated to the accusation itself. The intent is to ruin someone's reputation before they've done anything actually objectionable, by constantly portraying their motivations as suspect, and render the subject unable to defend themselves because both ignoring and responding to false rumours being spread about them can be used to strengthen the narrative.

Transphobia and homophobia both often contain a component of predatorjacketing, and the implication that the subject is a danger to the people around them -- especially children. The canard about the child-molesting queer is the driving force behind why people use predatorjacketing techniques against queer people so much.
