Went for a two-hour research binge into Nintendo emulation on mobile devices because I got frustrated at people saying "just buy the mobile ports, that's the easiest way", ignoring that having money can be one kind of an accessibility barrier and that most computer stuff is easy to do if you've got someone who can walk you through it step by step. Which I can.
I also wanna take that one shitpost about Safety Absols and draw an Absol with appropriate safety gear. That hardhat is not even secure. Where's their reflective vest.

Emulation sounds so cool but I don’t really understand it XP

Older consoles up to the PS1 generation have been pretty thoroughly emulated, if you have a decent computer you can run GBA/NDS emulator pretty easy. Even my old computer could do it. I've also been looking into mobile emulators, but haven't yet had a chance to try out them -- if you're on Android, you might wanna look up an EmuBox tutorial on YT, they explain it better than I do :D
I actually have the SoulSilver ROM, I can drop a link to my EMU bundle on OD. It's as simple as unpacking the thing, running the emulator exe and opening the ROM image. I recall it running kinda bad on NoCash, my preferred emulator, but I don't remember it crashing or anything like that.

Date: 26/4/22 05:05 (UTC)Yeah, usually fan translations release in the form of hacked ROMs, and emulators are generally the most hassle-free way of playing them. Depending on the console, you might need to add a mod circuit to it or have a flash card/software unlock cartridge/disc to be able to run stuff that's been burned into disc or is running from a flash drive. I've been meaning to invest in a flash card for my 3DS for, like, literally years now, I wanna replace the battery and homebrew that one so bad so I can use it as a dictaphone and an art tool.
Honestly, Nintendo's hardware is some of the best-emulated because their archival is notoriously godawful to the point where there's even been suspicions that Nintendo has used emulated/hacked games as devtools while creating their own Virtual Console releases. I recommend the r/Emulation wiki as a starting point :D
