Man.
What's interesting to me is that the next season is probably gonna deal with social injustice, prejudice and equity since most of the plot signs point that way and have been for a while. We're gonna get Yellow, Blue, White and the rest of the upper crust learning that they also have to learn from and repent their actions for the world to get better, and that that's hard and painful work, as well as deal with the Off-colour's fear and hurt in a constructive way.
And I feel like here is where Steven's power of empathy is finally gonna become an Instant Win card. He's been struggling with who he is and who he should be for five seasons now, trying to get his powers under control, trying to use them as much as he could to help... but after that heart/soul split, I feel like he's finally in a position where he isn't going from crawling to running every time he uses them.
Pink didn't just run away, is the thing. A big part of her rebellion was realising that things were wrong, things were rotten, and that the way she was living was hurting people she had intrinstic regard for in a way the other diamonds... might have not? I'm not actually sure about White, I relate quite a lot to her "I'm supposed to be an example, I'm supposed to be a leader, if I'm not perfect then what use am I?" and just on a gut level I know that's not a position you take out of complete disregard for your social position.
I'm excited! I'm excited, while being sated, because I don't see this having closed off any doors to working out the stuff that wasn't resolved here. A big narrative goal was reached, but the way SU branches out doesn't mean we're nearly done.
