Transformers IDW fans learn to specify continuity rather than having "Transformers" be your IDW tag and every other continuity having their own tag.

I would say "learn to distinguish between titles so all IDW content isn't just MTMTE" but I know from listening to my IDW fan friends that that's never gonna happen, but, like. Please start acknowledging that your continuity is neither the groundwork nor the end-all-be-all of TF that everything else spins off of.

IDW fans learn to acknowledge and disambiguate what you bring in from what continuity so I don't get confused about what is actually canon in the continuities I don't care about.

god the worst is when ppl will tag clearly-IDW stuff as "tf g1"
excuse you, no, shockwave being empurata'ed is not a g1 thing. it'd idw. call it what it is. good lord

also the "idw" being a mtmte tag and then non-mtmte stuff being ignored or tagged otherwise drives me up a damn wall but like, if people could start tagging their "general transformers" stuff as idw and stop putting it in the g1 tag that'd be great! i want to look at idw things! it is not helpful for that either!

Disposables? IDW concept. MTO/cold-constructed second-class citizens? IDW. Shadowplay? IDW. Guiding hand? Exists in other continuities, but most of the info is from IDW. The Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy? The Functionist political movement? hey fun fact guess where those came from

Another one that really gets me is when people fuck up Optimus as a character just because "ignorant paternalism" is an easily generisable flaw. Optimus, in every other continuity, is defined by his worthiness -- IDW is the interesting outlier where he is not. Being a fan of both Optimus and Rodimus is made infinitely more alienating b/c Roddy fans can't seem to figure out that neither of them is a bad person, usually.

It is legitimately so alienating sometimes, and it sucks b/c with comics people running around swinging their worldbuilding dicks in other people's faces, finding generic TF stuff that isn't just IDW with serials filed off is a wasted effort. IDW fandom stop colonizing the rest of the TF fanspace.
