The Ostrobothian Chamber Orchestra uploaded a small ensemble concert recorded at the Tullipakkahuone to Youtube and I am absolutely luxuriating on being able to listen to chamber music in my home, lying on the couch in my underwear.
I actually played classical music for the longest time -- a time that is a significant percentage of my life, still, in fact -- and I actually really love both chamber orchestras and woodwind orchestras, I'm just absolutely awful at going into concerts. The seats are always uncomfortable, I always feel underdressed, and I am simply too prone to stimming when the music gets to me to feel like I'm behaving appropriately. So this is just, like. Perfect, and their picks for this concert are so good -- nothing too fancy, but stuff that brings out the different textures of the various strings very nicely and the acoustics are nice.
It's not live music, but on the one hand I cannot overstate how much I love being able to listen to it at home in my pants on the couch. This is so good. The only downside is that my speakers aren't good enough for this so I'm resorting to headphones which sucks because some of these pieces I want to feel in my chest, because that's the kind of music they are.
Can we do this all the time? Classical music and chamber music are much better when you don't have to deal with the kind of people who make a point about listening to classical and chamber music.
