I think I've made this exact post before but it's so much easier for me to think about IsuTai in an AU context because in canon, I just think the potential of it being completely one-sided from Taion's side is too delicious to pass up on. I love the almost fractal sadness and bittersweetness of having to let go of the idea that Isurd could have ever returned his feelings, just as he's recognising what those feelings were, all along, having to cram the realisation and grieving into the same extended moment.
