I had a dream that I was essentially a hall monitor during the apocalypse.

The school I worked in was also a community center of some sort, and it has a class run the security for a week at a time. On my first night (shift starts at 10pm) there was a freak windstorm that somehow got inside people's heads -- a lot of them just milled about or walked in circles on the school yard as they froze to death. I let as many people in as I could, and all pretenses that this was about school fell aside pretty quick after that, and it turned into a straight-up survival scenario where I was one of only a handful of people with feet on the ground.

So I was managing an unwieldy number of people within a building not made to accommodate, telling them to leave off the snack machines and not to skateboard indoors while knowing that if I lost my authority and people realised I didn't know anything either, there would be a mass panic. It was very "arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" levels of desperate.

Funnily enough not everyone who braved the storm realised it was the end of the world before they got to the school, dazed but intact. I remember being desperate for a solution because all I could do was keep the panic down and try to stop people who were hearing the call of the void from going outside and freezing to death.
