It's definitely no cinematic masterpiece -- like, in fact, it's AGGRESSIVELY on-the-nose with a lot of its music choices, framing and editing but
it's also EXACTLY what I wanted from a G1 Transformers movie and that is the highest compliment I can give it.
I'll prolly come back and write a proper thoughtspost on it but for now the stuff that's at the top of my mind is that while the mecha are smaller than they are in Prime, but they've retained that lovely sense of mass, looking like they weigh more than they look. It's also well-present in the fight scenes, that are staged with a clear understanding on how to make the animations read well to audience.
It's also good they used entirely new characters for this one. I think Hasbro would have had a fit if they decided to kill any of the already limited number of Triple Changers available in canon.
