I'm still having feelings about SotW
It makes me Delighted that Impactor spends so much of SotW fussing over others b/c if anyone were to show him even a little bit of affection, I'm pretty sure he's shatter to pieces as surely as if he'd been hit with glass gas.
MMMMMMMMmmmmmm delicious moral injury.
Also, there's a compelling read of his story in SotW as a suicide metaphor, which puts the moments of affection and concern we see from him into a different light -- after all, often people who've made up their mind about dying turn to direct their energy outwards into "wrapping up" their business with others and looking after them, which can make them uncharacteristically empathetic and responsive.
Which I really, really like, goddamn. We never see Impactor come as close to openly comforting people as he does right before stepping into -- no joke!!! -- his literal grave. And he never comes out of it, either -- the next time he has a speaking role outside of the Noisemaze he's fully out of the Wrecker's lives.
Like, y'all. Impactor essentially becoming another Megatron is framed as psychological suicide. There are no words for how well that plays into my other analysis of him and Megatron as characters, and how it validates my headcanons for Prime!Impactor.
