I understand the point being made, because Shinigami Eyes does brand itself as an "anti-transphobia" tool rather than an anti-transmisogyny tool, but I don't actually think reviewbombing and trying to convince the devs to take issues that face non-white non-perisex non-trans women seriously is going to do anything. Shinigami Eyes is a tool that only works for those and on those with public platforms. When it's being used against other marginalised people, it just becomes a purity test of whether or not a sufficiently public trans woman approves of your statements.

I think if people really want Shinigami Eyes to be better, they should fork it and write up actual rules rather than telling people to go with a vibe of whether or not someone thinks a trans woman is a man in a dress. All the code is on Github and I've entertained the idea of forking it in the past for personal use, but I also think that the crowdsourcing method for using a tool like this is always going to limit its functionality and it's effectiveness.

I don't actually think trying to convince someone that they're capable of hurting other people is worth the effort ever. Otherwise we wouldn't have to keep having the conversation about white feminist victim complex literally any time someone says that women are capable of being bad sometimes.

The way people throw around "just use Shingami eyes" or "well you should have known this person was a TERF, they show up red" instead of actually thinking about the contents of what they're sharing honestly scares me. Plus the fact that I've heard of instances in which people deliberately targeted people (usually TWOC) by reporting them on Shingami eyes in retaliation for not being morally pure enough really makes me skeptical of the whole thing.

I guess what it boils down to is "use your brain and stop being a jerk" but that's too hard for a lot of people.

Yep, rn the side of Tumblr I follow more is making a concentrated effort to bring awareness to the fact that a lot of transmasc and intersex bloggers (and trans women who agree with them) are being flagged as red and a lot of people flagged as green are aggressively falling down the radical feminism rabbit hole into just doing baeddelism again. But Shinigami Eyes has always had a problem of assholes who talk sufficiently loudly about the specific problems that trans women face being marked as green, no matter how hostile and mean they are to everyone else, so like. It's just not a tool for anyone but trans women, in effect, and I don't really care to "reclaim" it for any other reason other than to avoid a false sense of security about who isn't transphobic.

Yeah, I've seen some... interesting... ways in which people go from "supporting one or several oppressed groups" to "shitting on other oppressed groups" and then right back into white heteropatriarchy. The assumption that someone who respects [marginalized group] also automatically respects [groups considered less marginalized] is a hell of a drug.

It all reminds me of a server I got kicked out b/c the local trans girlies coped with their dysphoria by constantly shitting on men and aggressively launching into lurid descriptions of their fears and traumas when any of us were like "hey fun fact being a gay man makes someone queer, too"
