I've been listening to a lot of Sephardic music linked by someone I follow on Tumblr, which put this on the front page and it's a genuinely fantastic video about orientalism, cultural shorthand, and, frankly, ethnographic ignorance making people write just whatever, except the thing being written is notes instead of words.
