My kingdom for a hc post about Bulkhead that doesn't start by calling him a clumsy oaf and go to talk about his skills and temperament to the tune of "I know he's stupid and unloveable but look he has redeeming features too!"

Tbh I don’t think I’ve actually seen Bulkhead destroy anything not on purpose in TFP? I never even got the impression he was clumsy.

I only watched the first season though, finding the second on dvd is annoying. :P

YEAH THAT'S THE THING that's completely correct, but because people are just so bored by TFP Bulkhead as a character, they start borrowing characterisation for him from Animated, and inevitably what they borrow is "haha funny clumsy boy" instead of anything interesting.

During the deviantArt days, I'd kind of gotten tired of everyone obsessively talking up their fave's strengths and how utterly amazing they were. I wondered why people couldn't recognize their fave's flaws.

I was wrong. Obsessing over your fave's flaws is much, much more insufferable then obsessing over your fave's strengths.

yeah I really can't even describe how tired I am of haha funney-relatable self-deprecating through deprecating your faves humour. I am so sick of it. This is so much worse than insisting your deeply flawed fave did nothing wrong, actually, and is the most perfectest cinnamon roll.

(i don't know if you've had this experience but) especially when it kind of trips over into that kind of "ironic" bigotry that everyone seems to think is funny.

yeah yeah yeah I've had that exact experience. I'm never gonna find it funny that someone is acting like the person who is making me mask harder so I don't get clocked, I am too straight-up traumatised by the closet to ever find it funny.
