New old experiences
Wednesday, 17 June 2020 21:27I'm on a site that actually has robust blocking and ignoring options (to the degree where I can filter their posts out of threads both of us are active in) and I've actually used them quite a bit on the basis of "I'm here to have fun and this person is really cramping my vibe right now" and it's surprisingly pleasant, but it does leave me with that lingering sensation of... not knowing if I'm being talked about behind my back.
Like on the one hand these are all people who legit don't even know I exist -- I've interacted with all of them a grand total of maybe two times (which was enough to figure out that I wouldn't want to do more of it) so I don't have an actual reason to assume they even know I have them on ignore, so I guess it would be more accurate to describe this as some kind of weird leftover paranoia vibrations.
Which still doesn't really give me any idea what to do about it :/
Anyway as an experiment the access to robust self-filtering tools has been a success. There are also a lot of threads I've ignored for the simple reason that I'm not in the mood, and I feel much more in control and less compulsive in my checking of the people's threads that I don't have on watch. So far I'm liking it.
