Maker mindset things

I've talked on Tumblr a few times about wanting to make my own ropes using disc braiding (I have a preference for synthetic rope but it's hard to find pretty and comfy synthetic rope for my purposes, so I'm trying if braiding cotton/wool/silk yarn over a synthetic core will serve my purposes) and have been working on my proof-of-concept wool rope p much the entire weekend I've been up in Oulu, visiting a friend

and I famously don't knit or crochet, I don't have the hands for it, but. Man, I get knitters. Mostly I'm just watching my friend play videogames, and occasionally I glance down at my lap and realise a whole new two feet of rope has magically appeared in it :D

(I need to buy better spools for my yarn, though, the cardboard I use starts giving too soon.)
