Conditional tolerance
Friday, 17 May 2019 06:04There's a Big Discourse Blog I follow on and off, but any time a big wave of wank rolls in, I end up unfollowing her b/c the style she uses works very well when it's impersonal/incidental, but is hopelessly condescending to the point of putting me off my lunch entirely for long periods at a time.
And I'm not entirely sure what about it makes it So Unreadable at that point b/c it's the same points being made with the same general amount of insight. I guess it's the aspect of "talking past" a person who is talking at you, even if they're just being rude.
(Her response to the latest round was particularly sloppy, too, so I guess I'll take a breath and let all of that clear from my feed before following her again.)
(There really isn't anything as uniquely unpleasant as seeing a point you agree with defended badly.)
