I tried convincing myself to not like it and it didn't work

My Unsolicited Onion on the Sonic movie remains that... I don't think it looked bad. Like. Straight-up, I thought Sonic himself looked and animated fine, he lands on the correct side of the Uncanny Valley for me and I really enjoyed the Jock Energy he had in the trailer despite being a little scrawny pipsqueak.

Hell, I honestly think he looked better than the early shots we got out of Detective Pikachu, and everyone has collectively decided that "yeah, okay, we're fine with the way these Pokémon look", while I still kinda look at them like... yea they could be good, but they just look off no matter how many times I see them. I've essentially just becomed desensitised to them, because I've seen so many of them at this point -- individually they still land on the wrong side of uncanny valley for me.

Like, tbh, Jim Carreygman was the thing that left me most like "ugh", I will probably only kind of tolerate him while enjoying the rest of the film just fine. Also, yeah, "Ganster's Paradise" is just a weird song to associate with Sonic, I'm tempted to recut the trailer to some pop-punk and see if it rolls better that way.
