I recently did a factory reset on my phone (didn't help the issues I was having with syncing files to my SD card, and neither did replacing the SD card (by pure luck I'd been about to upgrade to a larger one anyway): guess I'll just have to live with it :( ), and I systematically went through all of the OS settings and all of the app settings and had it back to normal in a few hours. It takes me *somewhat* longer with a truly new phone, but still only a few days or so.
It probably helps that a significant chunk of my brain seems to be dualistic when it comes to smartphones: *in essence* I have had one smartphone, the phone merely gets a better (more RAM, mostly) physical vessel every once in a while. (My brain is not dissuaded from this by the fact that *both* of the previous vessels *are still around and I still use them for stuff*†: they have different phone-essences inhabiting them now, while *my* phone has moved on.)

†Phone #1 is now Mom's, but I frequently borrow it when I need something with a SIM card (I haven't bothered to buy one for mine, though probably once I start hunting for a better job); phone #2 is used for menial Internet labour.
