I also get the impression that people who are more prominently attracted to men don't feel this sort of effect as much, though -- like, they know they like looking at men just in general 'cause they find men attractive, and also sometimes there are men who are like WOW for them, too.

I think the shovel effect, for me, is because I'm so mad that I find a man attractive, like, how dare he be hot enough to register as hot to me, that's rude.
