Knowing multiple languages is definitely both a blessing and a curse 😆 I'm only fluent in Swedish and English (+ understand German but make Grammar Soup when I try and talk it) but even that can get me mixed up - Ahti has all of my sympathy for having a hard time thinking up the English word for photographs. I sometimes only remember words in English and not Swedish, despite Swedish being my first language 😅.

Interesting to hear Ahti's got a "coastal" dialect! It's fun how wildly different dialects can develop even within such a fairly "small" area of the world (speaking from experience as a northern-born Swede trying to teach swim classes in the south - those poor kids were so confused at times 😆). I adore how complex languages can get and how "character speaks X language" can be such a broad statement 💖

And YESSSSS, the Andersons speaking Swedish was Such A Moment 🥳🥳🥳 I am hoping for all the Swedish (and Finnish!) in future fics and other fanworks. I'm also thinking about writing a fic where Saga tries to get to know her family and heritage better through language lessons ('cause I doubt Freya taught her any Swedish). I'm having a lot of fun estimating when in history the Andersons as a family migrated to the Americas from Sweden, because their use of "skratte" to mean "devil/evil spirit/etc" is old as balls and not a word most people here in Sweden would understand without the use of a dictionary at this point in time. Unless it's a veeeery local dialect somewhere, which of course is very possible. Research ongoing! 😆

I am circling the Remedy fandom like a shark, just waiting for someone to need help with Swedish for one of their fics~ I love that sort of fic-work 💙💙💙
