Yeah, it probably won't work if you can't motivate yourself to respect a timer, but for my mid-level funk they're pretty much perfect. It also helps that I like PoGo and Cookie Run for their gameplay as well, and kinda wish CR had less to do so it wouldn't take up so much of my time.
