Posti redirected yet another one of my packages directly instead of having someone come drop it off (MEANING I HAVE TO GO PICK IT UP INSTEAD OF PICKING IT UP AT WORK TODAY) and I wonder what the Fuck is up with that. That's the fourth package in two months.

Gonna talk to my boss about it, b/c I know for a fact that the delivery address included no redirection, I checked it multiple times. Either GLS lied to me the entire time the thing was in transit, or something is fucky

Well, I know for a fact that it wasn't an individual carrier and it also wasn't our dispatcher, because the packages never made it to our distribution center, but rather were dispatched directly to the branch office from Oulu 🤔 Three of those packages had SP-codes, from a client that has a subcontractor in Helsinki. The latest one had an EK-code and was handled by GLS, was shifted to Posti's sort stream in Turku (the new code was not sent to me) and reclassified as a 16-package -- which are sent directly to the post office. GLS kept telling me until the last minute that the delivery location was my own damn house. Even the delivery confirmation mail I received from them had my house address on it -- only the one from Posti said that it was delivered to Prisma instead.

So, yeah, that doesn't sound like a distribution error or a computer system malfunction, but rather that Posti has separate agreements with some clients to divert certain kinds of packages early in the sorting cycle. I had no idea this was going on, and my boss had equally no idea what was going on. We'd been working with the assumption that all tracked packages (whether they need to be signed for or not) will need to be logged at the final distribution center before the client -- which would be the place I work at.

Oooh, yeah, we've had packages diverted to Prisma that claimed the whole way they were coming directly to the house before.

And in fact the other day I missed an email from DHL that I could pick another option for delivery (ie pickup places I guess?) and options timed out to the default "home delivery" before I found the mail. But then today we got a "tried to deliver at noon" slip in the mailbox even though we were both here all day and nobody tried to deliver it at noon. It's not a huge hardship because our pickup point is an R-kioski that's... about 6 blocks from the house and the package is very small, but that could be seriously bad if you had to use public transport and/or it was something big.

Yeah... some places, ours included, abide by the 3cm rule (if it's parcel mail and not a package, and it's bigger than can be expected to fit in through a mail slot on the door, we're allowed to send it directly to be picked up and just write a card for it) although we only really stick to it on the bike routes because we have much less space for parcel mail than the routes which are delivered by car. That's something that is also inconsistent across the country.

You know, I don't really mind that - I mean if they don't try to deliver it and just directly bring the card - but it's annoying that the card says they did then...
