I had to cheat a bit to get through the first Insight of The Rite of the Turnabout but it did remind me how much I like Insight as a driving force in Rayfa's character arc. Her writing is really truly one of the best parts of this game for me, as the layers peel back you realise just how lied to this little girl truly is, and how much responsibility has been put on her shoulders as a way to divert attention away from the true culprits of the crime against the population of Khura'in.
I should go looking to see if anyone has written fic about the inevitable PTSD of "oh shit I condemned so many people to death on false premises" she probably goes through after the end of the game. I wanna read about Rayfa's total loss of confidence, but I also want to read about her rising from the ashes to realise that she has a remarkable investigative power that can and has served the truth, and will surely do so in the future. The séance was never the problem -- the problem was that Rayfa was taught to use motivated cognition to arrive at conclusions that she, a child, should flatly not be responsible for making.
