Mom, please.

*sigh*

My mom bought me a pair of maroon/wine-red sneakers after I said I needed new ones (and also said I was getting ones from my place of work since those were now the second shoes I'd worn through, working for Posti) and

I know it's not my problem if she gets mad when I told her "I'm not going to use these because I don't like this colour and these don't fit my style" -- I know it's not my problem if she gets offended that I keep rejecting her attempts at feminising my attire (she also got me a bag/purse that is very noticeably feminine compared to the ones I use, but I actually like it a lot so that's different)

I just don't like that this might be a conversation I might have to have with her, because I'm tired of defending myself and my identity and my self-expression to her, because she's acted very dismissive of my opinions on myself before, and I've pretty much told her "nevertheless, this is how I choose to conceive myself" before

and at the same time, rejecting a gift is one of those things I absolutely abhor doing, even especially if I'm not rejecting it on practical grounds, but rather on principle.

*sigh*

Parents.
